Mission
Connecting Students to Careers
Interior AHEC coordinates clinical rotations for students enrolled in professional health education programs at UAA, UAF, and various other schools. Disciplines vary from Nursing, Paramedic, Radiologic Technician, to Physician Assistant, Medical students, Social Work, and Pharmacy to name a few. Interior AHEC also supports job shadowing within the interior of Alaska for community members that would like to see if a health care career is right for them.
Connecting Professionals to Communities
Interior AHEC provides many continuing education opportunities for rural providers. Helping these health care workers maintain certifications and advance in their professions means they will remain in their communities, reducing turnover and increasing retention.
Connecting Communities to Better Health
By supporting such events as Mini Medical School Lectures, the Breast Cancer Symposium, and the Diabetes Expo Interior AHEC is helping communities obtain better health care.
