Speakers & Tours
Touring a medical facility first hand can provide an insider’s look into the health care field, and give individuals a real-world perspective of a medical environment. Additionally, guest speakers and presenters are another way to inspire students and bring the unique prospective of various health care professionals into your classroom.
- Tour participants must be at least 14 years old
- Tour groups are limited to a maximum of 15 participants
- Tour requests can be made by filling out the Medical Facilities Tour Request
- Speakers composed of volunteers from various surgical and health care professions help increase health career interest and engage students with the challenges, rewards, and opportunities that can be found in the health care workplace
- Guest Speaker requests can be made by filling out the Guest Speaker Request
In-a-Box Curriculum
In-a-box Curriculum is a hands-on curriculum ready for your classroom! Developed by professionals at Oregon Health & Sciences University and the Oregon Area Health Education Center. Teachers, presenters and groups that work with students in grades 4th-8th can inspire students with exploration in health and science activities contained in these easy to use kits.
The 5 boxes available are: Eye In A Box, Ear In A Box, Brain In A Box, Guts In A Box and Bones & Muscles In A Box. Each box contains a teachers guide illustrating the background, activities, resources, schedule and content standard. There are also instructional videos demonstrating how the activities work and what information each box can offer the students.
Teachers if you are interested in viewing the boxes please do not hesitate to call for an appointment. They offer great opportunities for students to learn more about these science areas as well as a possible future in a Health Care Career!!
