Interior Alaska AHEC

Medical Students, mid-Levels and residents are encouraged to contact Alaska AHEC through the state wide website at http://www.alaska-ahec.com/ to find out more about the opportunities for clinical rotations around the state. Please fill out the Rotations Clearing House Application Form you find there. Individual students from Alaska and the Lower 48 are placed in Interior clinics and hospitals on a preceptor available basis. In addition to these placements, Interior Alaska AHEC coordinates the following programs at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and Tanana Valley Clinic:

• University of Washington WWAMI OB/GYN Clerkship
• Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences COOM- Regional Campus Program
• Northwest MEDEX Physician’s Assistant Program
• University of Washington Rural/Underserved Opportunity Program
• Alaska Family Medicine Residency (Emergency Medicine)

Placements take a great deal of time to arrange and the maximum amount of time should be allowed for this administrative activity. A time period of 6 months has proven to be a workable minimum lead time. For more information about the programs discussed here see the following websites:
